Stijn Viaene

Stijn Viaene received MSc and PhD in Applied Economics from KU Leuven. He is currently professor at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School where he heads the Management & ICT competence unit. He was holder of the KBC Insurance Research Chair at KU Leuven from 1997 to 2002, during which time he completed his PhD thesis on building intelligent software applications for insurance claim fraud detection on a research chair sponsored by KBC Bank & Insurance. He currently supervises the Amsterdam-Amstelland Police Research Chair on Knowledge Discovery in Databases at KU Leuven. His research, teaching and coaching build, very generally, on analysis of the managerial aspects of Business ICT alignment (i.e. planning, organizational, execution and control aspects), with a particular interest in realizing the benefits from business intelligence (BI) systems.
