Professor Ma received a Ph. D. in Strategic Management from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994, a Graduate Diploma in Economic Management from the Yellow River University, Zhengzhou in 1989, and a Bachelor’s of engineering degree in Management Engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology in 1987.

Professor Ma’s teaching and research interests lie in Strategic Management Issues and Perspectives, Competition and Cooperation, Strategic Decision-Making in Complex Organizations, Entrepreneurship, and International Management, etc.

He has published over a dozen peer-reviewed articles in various management journals, including more research-oriented journals such as Academy of Management Review, Journal of Business Venturing, The Journal of International Management, and more practitioner-oriented journals such as Organizational Dynamics, Business Horizon, and Management Decision. Professor Ma has also won multiple best paper awards from American Society for Competitiveness and Eastern Academy of Management.
